Bath Installations and Repairs
Installing a bath properly is essential to preventing costly plumbing problems down the road. Similarly, if left unattended, problems with your bath can lead to damage in and around your home.
Whether you’re looking for a bath installation for a swanky new bathroom, or you have a plumbing issue that you’re concerned about, the plumbers at UKOOA are here to help.
As well as our team being capable bathtub fitters, they also have heaps of experience sorting all kinds of plumbing issues for baths across London.
Bath installations
One of the most important parts of bathtub installation is ensuring that there will be no leaks in the system. If installed incorrectly with poor plumbing work, you could end up with water damage in your home. This can result in some serious and costly problems, such as a build-up of mould and rot, which is a nightmare situation for any homeowner.
Our plumbers will take the following steps to ensure that your bathtub is securely installed and ready to use:
- Ensure the bathroom floor is level.
If the bathroom floor isn’t level, this could mean the bathtub will end up cracking or rocking. If needed, we’ll level everything out for you before starting the job.
- Remove old caulking.
New caulking won’t stick to the old caulking, meaning moisture might seep into areas that shouldn’t be wet. - Fit the waste and overflow drains.
We’ll also use sealant to secure all the joints and make sure everything is properly sealed.
- Install the ledge board and the bathtub.
- Securely connect the drains to the pipes leading to and from the bathtub.
- Test for leaks and fix any problem areas.
- Finish and waterproof the walls.
- Replace the tub surround.
- Seal any gaps with sealant.
Bath repairs
If you’ve had a bath improperly fitted, there are an array of problems you might end up facing. Here’s what to look out for, and how the UKOOA team can help:
Leaking water
Caused by poorly fitted pipes, improper sealing, or not fully drying the area before installation, leaking from your bath can wreak havoc on your home, resulting in mould and dampness.
If this is happening in your bathroom, it’s better to call us in sooner rather than later to detect and repair leaks. We even offer emergency plumbing if your issues are urgent. We’re available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, and we’ll aim to be on our way within 30 minutes of your call.
Clogged drains
If the bathtub drain isn’t properly vented, you’ll have blocked pipes and noisy, gurgling drains if the water can’t drain efficiently. This could mean you end up with dirty water and debris backing up into your tub — which is the last thing you want when trying to enjoy a relaxing soak!
Bad smells
Getting into your bath and being greeted by the smell of sewer gases is a pretty gross experience. This can happen when the P-trap isn’t installed correctly.
The purpose of a P-trap is to stop sewer gases and their nasty smells from coming out of your drain. It does this by using a small section of water that blocks the gases and bad smells from moving upwards and out of the drain, while still allowing water directly from your bath to push past it and drain away.
However, when the P-trap is faulty, perhaps due to poor venting or loose connections, that nasty rotten egg smell is going to make its way into your bathroom.
Don’t panic if this is something you’re dealing with, our team can get that P-trap fixed up for you, and get rid of those horrible smells in no time.
