UKOOA Sustainability Strategy 2002 - First Report 1. Economic Sustainability 1.3 Developing new technologies   Commitment No. 14 - Technological innovation: venture capital support "A group of UKOOA's member companies has set up the NOVA fund to invest venture capital in business developing promising new technology." Progress to date : achievements and difficulties encountered The NOVA technology fund had its origins in the CRINE and CRINE Network pan-industry initiatives during the mid-1990s. Some £5 million of venture funds have been raised initially, aimed primarily at helping SMEs who have new inventions/technologies, with three R&D projects valued at £2.5 million being funded and various others being assessed for funding.
