Professor Bruce Sellwood, BSc, Dphil, FGS, CGeol
Professor Sellwood has held the personal title of Professor of Applied Sedimentology at the University of Reading since 1993, having been previously a Reader in Sedimentology. He is currently Director of the MSc Course in Petroleum Sedimentology and has held the external office of Editor-in-Chief of the journal Sedimentary Geology since 1987. He has served on NERC Grants and Training Awards Committees (1986-90) and has convened many sedimentological conferences and two NATO Advanced Studies Institutes on Reservoir Studies (1981 and 1992). He has nearly 30 years research experience in petroleum-related areas involving specific studies of reservoir, source-rock and seal systems in the North Sea, Middle East, W Africa, E Africa and the Mediterranean. He has run a range of technical short courses for governmental and industrial organisations both in the UK and overseas and successfully supervised around 30 PhD students who have mostly entered the petroleum industry. He has co-authored or edited five major textbooks and published around seventy-five papers in scientific journals.
